Baptisms

The birth of a child is always an amazing moment, one which remains in the memory forever. Many people naturally wish to bring this new child to Church to say thank you to God for their arrival into the world.

JC Lytham is delighted to help you consider carefully if you also wish for your child to be Baptised in the Christian Faith, often known as Christening as well.

We believe Baptism to be about parents and Godparents saying publicly that they want their child to be brought up knowing Jesus, and of course, they are the people who accept most of the responsibility for ensuring this happens.

To prepare for the service the clergy and our Baptism Coordinators will talk you through the service and take the details we need for the Certificate and for our Baptism Register.

To arrange a Baptism please contact the Parish Office and our Parish Co-ordinator will arrange for us to contact you to secure dates. Our pattern is to conduct Baptisms at 12noon on the 1st or 3rd Sunday of the month at St John and the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month at St Cuthbert. There will be some occasions when more than one family will be attending, but we do aim to limit this to two families. Occasionally we can also arrange the Baptism to take place in our main 10:15am, if this would interest you please let us know.

We are committed to supporting you as your child grows, so they have opportunities to know more about God. We have a parent and toddler group (Bertie Bears), Sunday School and of course, our church school, Lytham CofE Primary School which also has a brilliant nursery.

Of course, sometimes people have not been baptised as babies; we are always happy to talk and assist anyone who wishes to be baptised at any age, just get in touch.
